Sheper is a community in the Gjirokastër County, in southern Albania. The region’s rich and beautiful nature was an inspiration from the very start. The main idea behind the design was to separate the mass into five individual areas, connected through secondary functional spaces, and spread accordingly to maximize views of the alluring landscape. The combination of stone, copper and wood in the exterior facade, makes the building blend in with its surroundings. Not limited by the walls, the materials continue up on the roof, thereby creating a mixture that reflects the symbiosis of the nearby stones, trees and grass.
