The Municipality of Prishtina chose an empty space in the neighborhood of Qafa in the city center, which currently is used as a car park, and commissioned us to rethink and transform it into a cultural center with emphasis on theater.

The concept evolved around the initial decision of placing the stage in the middle of the site and surrounding it with a circular building, which will house exhibitions, art installations, multi-functional spaces for cultural events and a cafeteria.

The circulation is organised as a loop around the stage, leading to the floor above through a ramp. The building is covered with a retractable roof, which can be adjusted according to weather and seasons, thus allowing the stage to be used for open-air or closed shows.

The structural skeleton of the building derived from the idea of arranging concrete electric columns around the exterior façade in order to create a rhythmic progression that fits in the urban context.
